All governors from maintained schools, academies, free schools, Children’s Centres, PRUs/alternative provisions in Hackney are welcome to attend our meetings. We meet every half term, holding workshops and discussions or hosting speakers on topical items relevant to school governance and education. Although we do not discuss any individual school’s issues, we encourage governors and governing bodies to share good practice or bring matters of common concern to meetings for discussion.
We are always open to suggestions for discussion topics and/or speakers. Members of the executive committee are also willing to mentor new chairs and give advice to governing bodies outside of meeting times. We provide a formal channel of communication between the local authority (HLT), Hackney Council and school governors, both by written and verbal reports from committees and Forums and meet frequently with HLT officers. Members also represent Hackney school governors at various local and national meetings and conferences.
